We visited cousin Lauren in Washington D.C.
While I worked, Carrie took the kids to the National Mall. Then on Saturday, we all went to Arlington National Cemetery. It’s a somber place. I took the bus back to the Tomb of the Unknown soldier. It was interesting learning all the history of the notable soldiers buried in each section.
We watched the changing of the guard. When we arrived, a female guard was patrolling the grounds, which is historically rare. A few weeks prior, an all-female set of guards performed the ceremony.
Carrie, Lauren, and the kids visited Georgetown while I took my required daily nap. I met up with them later, and we ate ice cream, then Vietnamese food. Cara enjoyed the ice cream, but not so much the Pho.
